Employee Spotlight – Reyes Sanchez

Welcome to the Employee Spotlight

Mahoney Environmental is in its third week of our new feature called the ‘Employee Spotlight’. It’s our way to reflect on and draw positive attention to the most important assets  of Mahoney – its employees! A functioning business cannot function without a solid team in place, and we are extra proud of that team.

Twice monthly, an employee at Mahoney will be nominated and featured in this ‘spotlight’.

This week, Reyes E. Sanchez, Bulk Driver for Mahoney is interviewed.

Thanks for your time, Reyes!

What is your role at the company? How long have you been with Mahoney, and what position did you start at?

R: I am a bulk driver. I’ve been with the company for 32 years, and I first started picking up barrels with the straight trucks.

How do you balance your career at Mahoney with family life?

R: Easy – I don’t balance it because Mahoney has been a second family to me.

If you could switch your job with anyone else within Mahoney, whose job would you want?

R: I wouldn’t want to change with anyone. I would stay with my position because I like it, and I am comfortable.

What do you like most about Mahoney?

R: They’re very loyal with the good and bad.

What is on your wish list for the next five years at ME?

R: To continue getting bigger and better.

What has been your favorite project that you worked on here at Mahoney?

R: Just working and training with different people.

What drew you to Mahoney when you initially started? And how has the company changed since then?

R: I used to work for a different grease company and look at me now: 32 years later. The company has been growing since I started.

Before working at Mahoney, what was the most interesting or unusual job you had?

R: I worked at a cemetery, and I must admit…it was very unusual.

Share your proudest moment since coming on board at Mahoney?

R: This has to be my proudest moment – being in the spotlight. Also – all the other moments where I was recognized for my work.

Miscellaneous Questions (non-job related)

Do you have an office nickname?

R: They call me Rey Rey.

Do you have a favorite or inspirational quote to share?

R: “Winners never quit, and those who give up never win.”

Best vacation you have been on?

R: Every vacation is my best.

If you could change careers right now, what would you choose:

R: I would stay with my career – nothing could change my mind about changing positions.

If you could interview one person in the world (dead or alive), who would it be, and why?

R: I would interview John Mahoney – just ask what does the future look like for drivers and for the company.

Choose your Mr. Men/Little Miss, to best describe your work personality? Your home life personality?

R: Work: Very on time and  strict. Home: very chill, family-oriented, a great handyman!

If you were stuck on an island, what three things would you bring (assuming basics are provided for you)?

R: Would bring a litter, a pot and a knife with me. You are on your own to survive!

People would be surprised if they knew what about you?

R: No one would know anything surprising about me – they’ll have to figure it out on their own.

Finally….three words that best describe you?

R: Hardworking, dependable, funny
