Grease Theft Rewards Program
At Mahoney, we take grease theft seriously. That’s why we’ve created a dedicated team committed to tracking down and prosecuting unlicensed haulers of stolen grease. Our team works closely with local law enforcement, using surveillance techniques and exhaustive detective work to identify and bring these back-alley grease snatchers to justice.
We also follow up with restaurants that have been targeted, ensuring thieves are held accountable. But we can’t do it alone, we need your help!
How the Rewards Program Works:
We offer cash rewards for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of used cooking oil thieves:
- $500 Reward for the arrest and conviction on a misdemeanor charge
- $250 for arrest + $250 for conviction
- $1,000 Reward for the arrest and conviction on felony charges
- $500 for arrest + $500 for conviction
Who Can Participate?
- All Mahoney customers are eligible. Rewards are granted based on each vehicle involved in the case, not for every person involved.
Help Protect Your Business – Get Your Employees Involved!
Encourage your team to stay alert and report suspicious activities. Keeping your grease containers under surveillance with outside security cameras will deter thieves, and any footage of the incident will help with the investigation! If you suspect your business has been a target for Grease Theft, the thieves will likely return. Educate your team on what to watch for and report any suspicious activity.
Recognize Theft Vehicles: Teach employees to identify Mahoney’s trucks and the types of trucks commonly used in grease theft. (See reference photos.)
Gather Key Details:
- License plate number
- Business name on the driver’s door
- Vehicle color and description
- Direction of travel
- Any other identifying information
Act Fast – Call the Police: Report any suspected theft immediately. Avoid confronting thieves to prevent potentially dangerous situations from occurring.
