Our Grease Theft Rewards Program is getting results, and the story is now live on PR Newswire. Quick reporting from three food service operators recently helped law enforcement arrest used cooking oil (UCO) thieves at two locations in Louisville, KY, and one in Fort Mill, SC.
The main message is a simple one: when operators report suspicious activity fast, thieves get caught. Every one of these arrests started with a customer who noticed something was off and picked up the phone.
Louisville, KY: Two Reports, Two Arrests
Rob Carter and his brother Ken, owners of Ken Bowl and Dixie Bowl, helped close two separate theft cases in early 2026. In February, Rob reported a theft at Ken Bowl to Louisville police, and the offenders were arrested after the investigation wrapped. In March, a relative working on-site spotted an old ambulance backing up to the Mahoney UCO container. The vehicle was disabled, and both the ambulance and the stolen oil were seized. Each location will receive a check through the rewards program.
Fort Mill, SC: Fast Action Catches a Repeat Offender
On June 8, 2026, Brad Hartley, owner of Wing King Café, was alerted to a theft from his Mahoney container and called police right away. Officers located the vehicle and arrested the driver, who had made off with two full tanks of oil. The same vehicle had visited a month earlier and left behind a leak that cost Hartley close to $2,000 to clean up. Mahoney is recognizing him with a check for his quick response.
